Lipomas are benign tumors that originate from fat tissue. They are usually painless, soft and movable. Most commonly they are located in the upper back and head. In most cases, physical examination is sufficient to make a proper diagnosis. In doubtful situations, ultrasound with biopsy may be performed.

Surgical removal of lipoma is performed under local anesthesia. Lipomas are removed by simple surgical excision. The excised tissues are sent for histopathological verification.
